As a Graphic Designer and Photo Editor at the Women's Press Collective, I collaborated with a team of designers to help create the inaugural issue of The New Counter Culture, a magazine dedicated to amplifying the voices of POC musicians and artists. Working within the constraints of a limited photo library, I developed key visual elements that established the publication's identity, including the distinctive red square motif that became a recognizable branding device throughout the magazine. By combining bold typography, strategic use of negative space, and dynamic image cropping, the layouts created a sense of intrigue while drawing attention to the featured artists and stories. The final publication balanced strong editorial design with a contemporary visual language that reflected the magazine's mission and cultural impact.
